Needle felted animal sculptures made from locally sourced wool, embellished with hand stitched detail.
Inspired by antique toys, I combine reclaimed wood, wire and vintage textile mill bobbins into my work.
After making a wire armature I wrap around core wool. The form is then created by using barbed felting needles which compact and sculpt the wool.
Layers of colour are added to create depth of surface. Finally hand stitched detail adds another layer of colour and texture, making each piece totally unique.
